What is the best printer for name badge printing?
One of the most asked questions. To define the best printer for your event, we need to have information on:
- the number of attendees
- the used registration platform
- the expected peak
- the need of flexibility
- the available budget
In general, the most advanced and high-end printers are the Epson Colorworks name badge printers and the Swiftcolor SCC4000D that allow you to print fast full color badges on several types of media and several sizes.
The Zebra thermal printers and oversized card printers are less premium printers with less flexibility in terms of badge size and design.
How many printers do I need for my event?
To answer this question, we need to calculate the needed capacity. Based on the program (is there one peak in the morning or is it a multi-dat trade show), the used registration tool (some are faster than others), expected number of walk-ins, and the used printers - our specialists can create a calculation of the number of needed print-sets.
In general, we calculate with 2-4 badges per print-set or kiosk per minute. In reality the printer is not the bottle neck, the attendee is :-)
What is the rental price of hiring a name badge printer?
Thermal label printers are available from 90 EUR per event, the most advanced name badge printer from Swiftcolor starts at 690 EUR per event.
Note: next to the rental price of the hardware, you also need a source like a laptop or tablet, as well as consumables like the ink or ribbons.
Do you offer pvc card badge printing?
Yes, we do. Holon offers the Zebra ZC10L oversized card printers, as well as the possibility to print plastic cards with the Swiftcolor SCC4000D (Canon CX-G6400).
However, we are convinced the future of name badge printing will be in on demand paper card printing like with the Epson CW4000 or the Swiftcolor SCC4000D printers.
What is the most sustainable name badge?
We consider the 100% FSC certified inkjet paper badge stock as the most sustainable event badge.
Over the past years, the tendency is organizers move from pvc card badges into these fully recyclable fanfold badges; full color printed, on both sides with the Epson TM-C3500 and CW4000 name badge printers.
It is available in a few sizes and qualities.
Can I use all printers with my event registration software?
Not all printers are compatible with all event registration applications. Some software providers focus on a few printer types.
However, the Zebra ZD421 thermal printer and Epson TM-C3500 full color name badge printer are the industry-standards and are compatible with most software providers.
Our specialists know exactly what printers can be used with what kind of media for each of the 30+ applications we support.
Do all software providers support kiosk printing?
Self-service name badge printing with a kiosk is a nice onsite name badge printing process that requires less onsite staffing.
However, not all applications offer a kiosk interface as welcome screen.
Doesn't offer your event registration tool such an interface? No problem! We always have a solution in place to create one!
What is the best event registration tool?
There is no single best event registration software. All applications have their own advantages and sometimes challenges.
It depends on the use, type of events, number of events, need for connectivity with other applications, needed features and available budget. Some applications offer a perfect one-off event solutions, whilst others are better positioned for a more strategic use.
On our website (https://www.holon-events.com/solutions), we have listed the most commonly used applications with their most outstanding advantages.
